What is Active Internet’s SpamAV™?
Active Internet’s SpamAV™ is based upon the award winning SpamAssassin™ (http://spamassassin.org) freeware program which is considered the industry's leading spam filter, always finishing as one of the top contenders, or even best, in all spam filter tests.
Active Internet’s SpamAV™ for Servers includes the version 2.6 of SpamAssassin™. Future updates of SpamAssassin™ will be merged into the distribution, once they are proven and stable. Updates of SpamAV™ are available to registered users.
What Products are incorporated into Active Internet’s SpamAV™?
The Spam Filter used is SpamAssassin™ (http://spamassassin.org) which is considered one of the industry's leading spam filters.
The Anti-Virus engine is Clam AV , an open source Anti Virus product that detects over 20,000 viruses, worms and trojans. Clam AntiVirus is a GPL anti-virus toolkit for UNIX. The main purpose of this software is the integration with mail servers (attachment scanning). The package provides a flexible and scalable multi-threaded daemon, a command line scanner, and a tool for automatic updating via Internet. Most importantly, the virus database is kept up to date .
Amavisd-new is a high-performance interface between mailer (MTA) and content checkers: virus scanners, and/or SpamAssassin. It is written in Perl for maintainability, without paying a significant price for speed. It talks to MTA via (E)SMTP or LMTP, or by using helper programs.
Postfix is a freeware e-mail program that provides an alternative to the widely-used Sendmail program. Postfix is fast, easy to administer, and secure.
